Fort Collins Brewery: Major Tom's Pomegranate Wheat
Serving Type: bottle poured into glass
Appearance(A) : piss yellow with very slight pinkness to it, no head or lacing. Very unusual appearance for a wheat beer which are usually a more straw yellow and tend to be cloudy.
Smell (S) : slightly hoppy. again, unusual for a wheat beer.
Taste (T) : extremely light flavor. Very scary when a bottle says it contains “pomegranate juice from concentrate” but the pomegranate was very subtle and not overly sweet. taste is certainly the highlight of this beer.
Mouthfeel (M): acidic to the tongue. highly carbonated.
Drinkability (D): very drinkable. On a hot summer day this beer might actually be very refreshing. Could certainly down a number of these on a hot July afternoon.
Verdict: nothing horribly bad to say but nothing great either. but is this really a wheat beer? A harmless completely uninteresting beer that I might enjoy more when it’s 95 degrees out. certainly not a "beer drinker's beer". I am beginning to wonder whether Fort Collins Brewery is really a legit. micro-brew or a bogus one created by one of the major companies....must investigate.
